Links of Fun!

Every Wednesday there is a new link to something that is fun. Of course as we all know, the funnest link of all is www.matthewjhanson.com.

If you have a link to something that you think is fun, feel free to send it to matthew@matthewjhanson.com

AutoDave! The automated Dave Barry column generator
I know I've mentioned the eLibs a while ago, and this is something similar, but this has the advantage of being crafted than none other than syndicated columnist Dave Barry. Okay, it's not actually created by Davy Barry, but it is in the style of Dave Barry, and by that I mean it's funny.

#1 Classic Solitaire from Computer Solution Central
It's really more than a Download of Fun! than a Link of Fun! Yes, it's computer solitaire, yes your computer came with computer solitaire, but this version is better. Why? Because you can cheat.

How many times have you been playing computer solitaire, and everything is going well, until you realize the only card that can save you is that darn black nine, and you just can't find it. If you were playing the old fashion way, you'd just peek under the piles, and take the black nine, but Microsoft won't have any of that.

Fortunately the good people at Computer Solution Central know where it's at. And it's free, so there you go.

Spit in Your Face Production Limited
The good people that brought you the famed Lego Holy Grail. Their website contains links to many more amusing movies, including Star Wars, and Spiderman parodies.

DMarie Time Capsule
Ever wonder what was going on the day you were born, or any other day for that matter? More importantly do you ever wonder what toys came out the year I was born? Well now we know they answer: Trivial Pursuit and He-Man! If that's not an auspicious sign to be under, I don't know what is. In case you are curious here is what else happened when I was born.

Pearls Before Swine
I originally discovered this little gem in the Beloit Daily News, and have since continued reading it online. It's the story of a lovably dense pig and his friends. I enjoy it highly.

Puzzled Sheep
A fun little game for you. It's sort of like a more basic version of Lemmings, where you must lead your sheep to safety. The same host site (miniclip) has a lot of other games too, if you want to check them out.

Engrish.com
A site dedicated to those crazy Japanese, and their crazy mistranslation. I've selected a few of my favorites, for your viewing pleasure.

Random Acts of Violence Entertainment
It's a lot more fun than it sounds. It is action comedy show that was (is?) put out by the University of Northern California Student Television. Really I just recommend checking out the clips and promos, in particular the promos for NINJA! and The Muppet Episode. Really those two promos are what makes the site. You can skip the rest if you want.

"Where's Rudy?" (It might be better if you right click and save as)
Today's link of fun leads to a 1990 Paul Wellstone asks, "Where's Rudy?" The movie is hosted by the good people at Gustavus College Democrats, on their Remembering the Wellstone's page.

Free Arcade Text Adventures
Remember those text adventures you used to play on the old Apple II? Well there back. I'm working on "Adventure" right now. Haven't gotten too far yet. There are other types of games available at Free Arcade, but... I mean, come on! Text Adventures!

Zapato Productions intradimensional
Finally, somebody who's not afraid to tell the truth. Somebody else I mean, whose not afraid to tell the truth. Darn those black helicopters.

Batgirl
No, it's not the comic book character, it's a Minnesota Twins related weblog. I'm not a huge sports fan, but I am a huge Minnesota fan, plus we're mopping the floor with the Royals, so... Plus there's a lot there for non-baseball fans. She even tells you what happened to Jeremy Miller, of Growing Pains fame.

Creationist Science Fair

I tried out for Inherit the Wind today, a fictional recounting of the ever popular Scopes Monkey Trial. In honor of the occasion I thought I would link to the above. Unlike most links of fun, I don't think this one is trying to be funny. But then, neither was Dan Quayle

Potter Puppet Pals
Ever wonder what the Harry Potter Movies would look like if they used puppets? Now here's your chance to find out. I recommend watching "Bothering Snape," first.

random kitten generator
Far to cute to be legal.

sodaconstructer
Here's our first ever user suggested Link of Fun! Basically their little virtual bugers that crawl around on the screen. You can create your own, but I've found its more fun just to play with the ready made ones (You can load different ones using the file button). If you do want to make your own the hardest thing to figure out is the muscles stuff. If (in constructer mode) you click on the center of a line, it will put a new move point underneath the wavy thing. Drag it up to the wavy thing to get it to move.

Some of my favorite things are messing with gravity and friction. High gravity low friction is always funny.

eLibs
There like Madlibs, only eLectronic. Also has other nifty features like the Funkatizer. (Warning, some of the user created eLibs are rather naughty. Other just aren't funny.)

Emperor Norton I

Time for info-tainment. Learn all about the first and only emperor of America. Not too surprisingly he is who I would be if I were a historical lunatic.

Little Know Ye Who's Comin'

I heard this song on Public Radio's Conversations from the World Cafe. It amused me to the point where I felt I had to share it with all of you. I own my own copy now.
